About Mrs. Ford
Hello and welcome to third grade! My name is Sheree Ford and I began teaching at Willsboro Central School in 2000. During my years at Willsboro, I have had the opportunity to teach first and third grades as well as providing AIS in reading for our elementary students. I’m excited to return to third grade and look forward to a fantastic year of teaching and learning!

In 2017, our school district adopted the McGraw-Hill series Wonders for grades
Pre-K through third. The series is used to teach, develop, and practice skills and
concepts in reading, writing, grammar, and spelling. Third grade has six units of
study. The first unit has a two week Smart Start mini-unit to introduce important
routines and procedures that will be used throughout the year and will assist with
review of some previously taught skills. Each unit has an overall theme and five
topics that support the instruction of the theme. Below is a list of units, themes,
and topics for third grade.- Unit 1 – Growing and Learning: Story time, Traditions, Communities, Inventions, Landmarks
- Unit 2 – Figure It Out: Cooperation, Immigration, Government, Survival, Figure It Out
- Unit 3 – One of a Kind: Be Unique, Leadership, Discoveries, New Ideas, Value the Past
- Unit 4 – Meet the Challenge: Choices, Skills & Talents, Adaptations, Flight, & Inspiration
- Unit 5 – Take Action: Let’s Trade, Reuse and Recycle, Teaming Up, Good Citizens, Energy
- Unit 6 – Think It Over: Treasures, Weather, Learning to Succeed, Animals and You, Funny Times
- 3rd Grade Mathematics
For mathematics lessons, our school chose to adopt the Engage NY Common
Core curricular modules and those modules will be used to guide math instruction
in third grade. There will be seven modules for us to complete this year. Below is
a list of modules and titles for each.- Module 1 – Properties of Multiplication and Division and Solving Problems with Units of 2-5 and 10
- Module 2 – Place Value and Problem Solving
- Module 3 – Multiplication and Division with Units of 0, 1, 6-9, and Multiples of 10
- Module 4 – Multiplication and Area
- Module 5 – Fractions as Numbers on the Number Line
- Module 6 – Collecting and Displaying Data
- Module 7 – Geometry and Measurement Word Problems
